122,500 Minutes Read in Waterloo Bucks Reading Program

We’re taking a moment to celebrate the Waterloo Bucks and their 2019 Bucks Summer Reading Program. The Cedar Valley has a strong focus on education; from higher education institutions, schools, and businesses. The Bucks took an opportunity to make a great impact in the Cedar Valley community and the numbers speak for themselves.

From the Waterloo Bucks’ website: ”

The Waterloo Bucks are proud to bring back the Waterloo Bucks Summer Reading Program for 2019. With the support of Upper Iowa University Waterloo Career Center, Peoples Community Health Clinic, and The Pump Haus Pub & Grill, the Waterloo Bucks Summer Reading Program will be encouraging reading throughout the summer in the Cedar Valley.

In the last 4 years we have visited hundreds of elementary schools across Eastern Iowa to promote the importance of reading during the summer. Hitting the books during the summer break helps students improve their reading ability and makes the transition to the new school year a little easier.

Our reading program offers prizes and a fun baseball-themed game within the program that encourages students to stick with reading, even if school is not in session. The Bucks devotion to improving the lives of those in the Cedar Valley is reflected in our reading program by focusing on education for the younger generations.”

The impact of the Summer Reading Program is truly something to celebrate!
